Producing and exhibiting children’s films based on epics/classics at schools

Film medium attracts children a lot. But films produced based on our great epics and classics to entertain and enlighten children on the subjects dealt with therein are few. They are indeed traditionally transmitted treasures of knowledge, life-guidelines, subsequent generations should have access to and gain in order that the invaluable ancestral wealth plays its rightful role in moulding new generations. Human values are a fast fading phenomenon today. Our ‘Srutis’, ‘Smrithis’ and ‘Puranithihas’ and many other classics authored subsequently by great scholars and philosophers, whom we are fortunate enough to have had as our ancestors, continue to have great influence on us to pursue the path of values while living. New generations should never be alienated from them.

The concerted efforts the CASS would be making to spread the meaningful messages, among the growing children through film medium, would certainly be worthwhile and productive. It would expose the children to ample life situations from which they could learn lessons to become meaningful human beings. Children identified as having requisite talents would be afforded opportunities to play suitable roles in the process of film-making. Various soft-skills, including human values, that pupils seldom develop in the present heavy syllabus-oriented coaching system, will be given ample stress in the programme.
