Education is a life-long process. The moment we stop learning, we stop living too. Mere existence is what follows. One of the most important sources of learning undoubtedly is reading books, despite the fact that the Information Technology is fast advancing introducing the usage of a multitude of gadgets and facilities including the ‘Internet’. But the children need to be initiated into this important exercise, reading, at a very young age for it to have a sustainable effect on them. Though libraries have a very important role to play in the education process, well-equipped and well-managed school libraries are few in number.
CASS will have well-furnished libraries at district level to bridge the gap to a considerable level. These libraries will practically be study centres having all the books and classics children need to read and an experienced teacher/librarian to motivate and guide them in the process of self-learning. Efforts will also be made to unearth artistic and other skills inherent in the children and to assist them in developing such capabilities with the help of suitable books authored for the purpose by eminent persons in the respective areas. Children deserving training at higher levels will be identified and given necessary assistance to pursue their goals. Group discussions, debates etc. will be encouraged among the member-children. The libraries will also have e-mail and browsing facilities for the children to access outside sources of knowledge they seek.
