Prologue
It is the importance and urgency of measures that need to be taken at the level of voluntary Organizations to revamp various spheres of social life, particularly education, that, in fact, impelled the institution of the CASS. Its objectives, as enunciated in its Memorandum and Articles of Association, document the view. Various agencies and establishments, both government and semi-government, pursuing erroneous practices to improve the condition, often fail in their objective and even, where ulterior motives happen to play predominant role, cause to deteriorate it. The gap between where we ought to be and what we need to do to be where we ought to be to contribute to sound social life continues to widen as days pass.
The prevailing state of affairs could understandably change only when more people with altruistic drive and disposition start striving to bring about the change needed. Dearth of such people is not really the problem. There are in fact many who truly comprehend the growing need of cataclysmic reforms being brought about in various areas of social life. Educationists, social workers, writers, celebrities, bureaucrats, scholars, NRIs, professionals, affluent people who are willing-hearted to patronize such reforms etc. could constitute the teams at endeavour to improve the condition. But they precisely lack an effective link to stay organized and serve their turn, play their respective roles, for such social cause. The initial assignment, therefore, of the CASS is to identify such well-meaning members of the Society and provide them with a common forum to exchange views and pool their resources to effect reforms that are obviously needed. The task before us is stupendous and what the CASS, by itself, could accomplish may not be much. But our efforts, that understandably would have the support and patronage of a great number of like-minded people across the world, could certainly be meaningful and instrumental in bringing about the reforms sought. During the last three years we have been doing such exercises in a minimal way, conducting seminars, workshops, educational sessions etc., at venues organized by public sector undertakings, voluntary organizations and schools etc. The feedback (written) received from the thousands of people who have attended our programmes, which, often, had stress on effective parenting skills and other topics related to the behavioural and attitudinal changes the parents and teachers need to undergo to play their significant roles more effectively, also accentuate the increasing need of widening the scope of our service including the programmes/projects shown at this site.
